TWO WEEKS IN OCEANIA
Despite an age gap of 15 years and growing up on different continents, my closest cousin is like a brother to me. In early 2015, I got on a plane to visit him for the first time in his home instead of mine. We spent nine incredible days walking the streets of Sydney, having long overdue late-night conversations, and riding through national parks on the back of his motorcycle in a helmet that was too big for my head and a smile that rooted straight from my core.
I left Australia with a heavy heart, to spend some solo time in New Zealand - a place where you still pump your gas before paying for it. I drove 1400 km in a faithful rental car, did an alpine crossing over a volcano and lived off of PB&J sandwiches and apples for over a week.
It was pure bliss, and in many ways one of the most important trips I’ve ever taken.
